The Letter F

For the letter F we met Freddy Frog, watched a short video clip called "shoo fly," which was quite funny to all of us considering we had a fly in our room the day before that was driving us all crazy!  We read Rainbow Fish and learned about sharing, and then created our own rainbow fish.  I think the kids ate more fruit loops than they glued down.  We had Fish crackers for a snack, made Flag pictures, felt sandpaper F's, colored our own take-home books, and went fishing with a fishing pole for fish with pictures that start with F.  It was a busy week!  Oh and we started alternating playdough time with puzzles.  Finally, we painted our self-portraits for our "All about me" unit.

The Letter S

We had so much fun with the letter S.  We met Sally Snake (who makes shapes), went on a picture hunt, did a group worksheet with paint, made and ate the most delicious strawberry smoothies, made our own paper snakes, read "Silly Sally" and tried standing on our heads just like she does, played a fun in the sun folder game, and so much more!  The boys are having so much fun together!

(We missed you on Smoothie day Nathan!)

Our First Week of School

During our first week of school we learned routines... how to use our writing books, trying our crayons, cutting with our scissors, cleaning up, doing preschool jobs, reading the daily schedule, sitting still, sharing, and listening to the teacher.

Here are a few pictures of our fun first few days...

Playing with playdough is not just FUN... but helps develop fine motor skills needed for writing.

When we play outside we develop gross motor skills that develop coordination.  We also learn to share and communicate with other kids our age.

We made handprint stones out of air dry clay as part of our "All About Me" unit.

Each week we learn a letter of the alphabet.  This week we learned about the letter M.  As part of that we met Monkey Mike, went on a letter M picture hunt, watched an M video clip, read If You Give a Moose a Muffin, and then we made our very own Chocolate Chip Muffins!  We all took turns adding ingredients and stirring.  Then we went outside to play while they baked...

The muffins were DELICIOUS!  Nathan wasn't so sure he wanted to try them... he doesn't like muffins!  But when I told him that they were extra yummy because he had made them he at least licked a good portion off the top.
